The regulation compliance related jobs of this project includes new vehicle model certification and conformity of production auditing for diesel vehicles pursuant to 「Emission Standards for Transportation Vehicles」, 「Operation Guideline on Application for Engine Family Exhaust Emission Certified Letter and Motor Vehicle Certificate of Conformity and Conformity of Production Auditing Based on Third Stage Emission Standards for Diesel Engine Vehicles 」. And the surveillance test of in-use diesel vehicles pursuant to the draft of 「In-use Diesel Vehicle Recall and Correction Regulation」. EPA issued 66 Motor Vehicle Certificate of Conformity that contained 215 vehicle models from January to October 2002. At the same period, EPA conducted Conformity of Production Auditing for 4 diesel engines and 21 diesel vehicles. All of the engines and vehicles passed the Conformity of Production Auditing test. The regulation development related jobs in this project were to draft the approval and recall procedure for diesel vehicle emission certificate of conformity. The approval and recall procedure draft was amended to meet the governmental agencies’ administrative procedure legal requirement and is in the pre-announcement status and open for public comment before their formal announcement at the end of 2002 or early 2003.
